Olivia and her siblings were placed in the foster care system a few years ago. Olivia was devastated because she was very close with her mother. Olivia did not understand exactly why she was taken away from her mom and dad. Her mother was meeting up with her for visits, but one day out of nowhere, her mother stopped visiting. When she is feeling very sad, Olivia talks to her therapist about her feelings of abandonment. She tries to keep a positive attitude, especially because Olivia’s foster parents want to adopt her as well as her brother. Olivia is grateful and knows that there are better days ahead.
Her Superpower is Trust...
Emma has learned how to trust people. Being the oldest of 12 siblings, Emma has always had to be the responsible one. Sometimes, Emma forgets how to just be a kid. Her mom and dad have told Emma, to give her siblings a chance to grow and be responsible too. Emma used to worry about how things would turn out if she was not in charge or in control of the situation. Now, Emma knows how to sit back and trust others to be their best. She doesn't have to control everything. Emma now knows how to trust others.
His Superpower is Confidence...
Jesse is a star basketball player. He didn't always feel like a a star. See...last year Jesse and his family were homeless. He worried everyday about whether he would live in a shelter or even eat dinner. Jesse knew that things would get better one day and it did. Now, him and his family are doing just fine in their new home.
Her superpower is knowing when to STOP AND THINK.
She has Asperger Syndrome. Asperger's is a form of Autism. It is a developmental disorder affecting the ability to effectively socialize and communicate. She did not talk until the age of 4. Myra's parents got her the resources that she needed as a younger child. Now, she is able to do everything that her peers can do.
His Superpower is being Calm...
A few years ago, he was in a swimming accident. He hit his head and became paralyzed. Although he is grateful that he didn't drown, it still angers him at times that he cannot walk. Hong has learned how to manage his anger. When he becomes frustrated, he knows how to calm himself down. He tries to look at the bright side of things. Hong knows that being angry only hurts him even more. He just recently became the manager of the school's soccer team. He is also learning wheelchair soccer. HONG may not be able to play soccer with his friends anymore, but he can still play an important role in the game. When he goes to college, he wants to study sports management.
His superpower is Empathy.
Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. He travels across the world to teach people how to be empathetic and also deal with their own feelings. Joe Joe would like to show you, your family, and friends how to do so too.
